This form of supplement speeds up metabolism which contributes to the weight loss especially if one who gets it
is always physically active. But with all these talks about Vitamin B12 shots providing benefits, one should also
think about the possible side effects they give. These side effects can range from the simple upset stomach or mild
diarrhea to the more serious chest pains or heart palpitations.
Vitamin B12 injections are often preferred by people who would like to experience the faster release and more
lasting effects of energy to their body compared to the pill or tablet forms which has a much slower and shorter
effect. Also known as cobalamin or cyanocobalamin injection, many who take these vitamin B12 shots experience pain
and swelling in the injected area as needle is pushed deeper into the skin which is known as deep subcutaneous
injection, or through intramuscular injection, an injection into a muscle.
Other common Vitamin B12 injection side effects of a cobalamin injection include nausea, weight gain, and
vomiting. Some others retain that warm sensation and pain at the injection area while others may complain of
feeling swollen all over their body, getting joint pains, or headaches. While these common side effects often go
away after a few minutes, some may experience their persistence, or even getting worse. To be on the safe side, one
can try to consult with a GP before getting one.
While not everyone may suffer from any of the side effects, it is also best to be aware of them before getting
one. The more serious side effects of a vitamin B12 shot are also very rare but can still happen. Those with some
pre-existing medical condition are best advised to consult their doctor before deciding on having a vitamin B12
injection.
Some of these rare but more serious side effects should be reported to a doctor if one has already gone through
with the injection. These include muscle weakness, rapid heartbeat, tightness in the chest area, muscle pain, rapid
weight gain, muscle cramps, frequent urination, extreme thirst, leg pains, numbness, dizziness, and a sense of
confusion.
Others may also suffer from breathing difficulties, a tingling sensation, swallowing difficulty, over fatigue,
shortness of breath when attempting to lie down or do a mild physical exertion, or unusual coughing or wheezing.
Other uncommon serious side effects are swollen ankles, feet, hands, arms, and lower legs; redness, a warm feeling,
tenderness, swelling, or unusual pain in one leg; hives, itchiness, skin rashes, or redness in the face or any
other part of the body.
Other side effects which can be serious, uncommon, or mild may also occur after one gets a vitamin B12
injection. If you experience these unusual symptoms of signs, see a doctor right away.
